National Seed Quality Control Service, NAKURU

The station provides a service to the seed industry in Kenya through a field inspectorate and testing farm and laboratories. The station consists of two office buildings, one for the seed inspectorate and one for the varietal testing section, preparation buildings, seed testing laboratory, seed pathology laboratories, canteen and lecture room, workshops, greenhouse and special seed beds. The seed laboratories are equipped with temperature control rooms.
The greenhouse and seed beds are provided with a steam sterilisation system, which is supplied from a centralised boiler.
Phase I was completed in 1979 and Phase II extensions were implemented for completion in 1981, incorporating additional varietal preparation and laboratory facilities and other specialised laboratories and seed beds.
